This picture is from our sixth grade outdoor science education camp. Our sixth graders travel to the Santa Cruz mountains to experience a weeklong science camp. We learn about the ecosystem of Santa Cruz, California geology, the plants and animals living in that area, how to do things that help the earth, etc. This picture is an outdoor class that is showing the students writing in their journals. The students have just come back from exploring the redwood forest. They were allowed to “face paint” themselves with the ash from burned redwood trees. They have a lot of fun! This camp is remembered by all! This is a great experience to share with my students.
