Who says learning can’t be fun? In the picture above, my English class was reviewing for a grammar exam by cheering each other on. When a student answered a question, they would be cheered for their efforts as they went down the “TPA Motivational Bridge”. They high-fived everyone, as we danced along with them and repeated the answer to the question to music. At the end of the “imaginary bridge” they received a motivational sticker. Gives the phrase “study group” a whole new meaning…

When teaching, we have to think outside the box and make sure all our lessons cover the concept, but also motivate students! Students are most likely to do the work it takes to attain the goal. When motivation originates from an internal source and is combined with a realistic goal and circumstance, the odds of a good outcome are greatly increased.
