When I picture great teaching I see children ready to change the world! Our students attended WeDay, an international youth leadership conference to receive a reward called the Big Dreamer award. This is awarded for their community service. I believe that great teachers help students know that they can affect change in the world today, not when they grow up. I try to do this as the principal of an elementary school. Together were parent volunteers our students support food pantries, homes for disabled adults, build schools in Kenya, and even raise money for bombing victims in Boston. They know they can change the world and they are passionate about it.
