When I picture great teaching, I see….history coming alive!

The attached story shows a snapshot of an annual school event for our 4th grade class. At the end of the school year, the 4th grade studies the Middle Ages. Our 4th grade teachers, wanted to bring the experience of the Medieval time to the classroom and came up with the now annual 4th grade Medieval Feast. Children are allowed to dress in period costume and the teachers do as well. They spend a few hours outside moving through various stations where they learn: archery, falconry, dance, yarn dyeing, made leather pouches, learned about jesters and juggling, sat on a horse saddle and learned about what horses would have been used for during that time, etc… The Feast finishes with a luncheon feast of meats and foods.

What a great way for these teachers to bring history alive!
