When my teaching is inspired I know that I cannot do this most important job in isolation and I become a teaching/learning multiplier. As a reading interventionist I was finding that I didn’t have enough time in each day to do what I needed to do. If you look carefully at the photo, you will see that adult is wearing a volunteer badge! We have become partners with a very special group of volunteers, many of whom are retired educators. After weeks of training and observations, these special volunteers have committed to coming to our school at least twice a week to support the classroom teachers with supplemental small group reading instruction. It is the most amazing thing I have ever seen in education. We are collecting data to show significant gains for our students who are involved in this program. The school and the community have truly become ONE team working for OUR children. We cannot wait to make it even better next year! We cannot do this alone!
