This photo was taken in our after school program. In an effort to expand the students’ minds about the importance of STEM related fields, we had a group of engineers come and demonstrate how math and science can be fun and exciting, and how engineers help create everything around us, from buildings to roads, playground equipment and more. The engineers also stressed the importance of communication and working together, these two students (who normally do not get along) received the ‘teammate award’ for working together so well and this picture expresses the excitement of experiential learning! Most of the students in this program were unaware of what an engineer does, and how vital this profession is to our everyday life. Through this experience, the students eyes were opened to something they’d not previously known. The caption for this photo would be, “My teacher inspires me when I get to experience something new everyday!”
