This photo was taken in our after school program. In an effort to expand the students’ minds about the importance of STEM related fields, we had a group of engineers come and demonstrate how math and science can be fun and exciting, and how engineers help create everything around us, from buildings to roads, playground equipment and more. The engineers also stressed the importance of communication and working together, these two students (who normally do not get along) received the ‘teammate award’ for working together so well and this picture expresses the excitement of experiential learning! The caption to accompany this photo would be, “When I see great teaching, I see community involvement.” These engineers are a part of our community, they took time from their busy day to come and share their insight with the students in the program, and the students responded with zeal!
